YouVoice in Safari on iPhone and iPad
Install a Safari extension
Section titled “Install a Safari extension”Safari uses an iPhone or iPad app containing a Safari extension, installed through the App Store or TestFlight. The desktop Chrome ZIP is not a Safari installer. Use a verified YouVoice installation link from support.
Enable the extension
Section titled “Enable the extension”After installing the Safari app, open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions. Enable YouVoice and allow access to the video website. On older iOS versions, Safari appears directly in Settings.
Watch in Safari
Section titled “Watch in Safari”Open YouTube in Safari, open the extension menu and sign in. Choose a target language and voice, then tap the dubbing button. The Safari extension runs on the website, not inside the YouTube app.
The extension says Off
Section titled “The extension says Off”The current TestFlight build appears in Safari settings as TranslateTube: AI Video Translator. Off means it is installed but not enabled. If the row responds to a tap, open it and turn on Allow Extension. If you use Safari profiles, enable it for the profile where you watch videos.
Share Across Devices does not enable the extension on this iPhone.
All extension rows are greyed out
Section titled “All extension rows are greyed out”If neither TranslateTube nor other extensions can be opened, first check the iPhone restrictions rather than reinstalling the extension:
- Open Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → App Store, Media, Web, & Games → Web Content. Older iOS versions may put Web Content under Content Restrictions.
- Check whether Limit Adult Websites or Only Approved Websites is selected. Restricted web access can prevent Safari extension settings from being changed. On your own device, if you choose to allow unrestricted browsing, select Unrestricted (also called Unrestricted Access on some versions), then return to Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions and check whether the rows are available. You do not need to turn off the entire Content & Privacy Restrictions section for this check.
- If the restrictions belong to a family organizer or your organization, ask that person to authorize the change. Do not remove management profiles or bypass a Screen Time passcode.
- If Web Content is already unrestricted, open the installed TranslateTube app once, close and reopen Settings, and restart the iPhone if needed. If it remains blocked, contact support with your iOS version and screenshots of the extension list and Web Content setting. An Off label alone does not identify the cause.
After enabling it
Section titled “After enabling it”Open youtube.com in Safari, use the Page Menu beside the address bar to open Manage Extensions, and enable TranslateTube for the website when prompted. Allow access to YouTube, reload the video page, open TranslateTube, sign in, and select your translation language and voice. Then start dubbing. The extension does not run inside the YouTube app.
For beta updates, open TestFlight and update the installed app; you do not need to install the Chrome ZIP. Do not delete the app just to enable an Off switch.
